Will there be another AvP film?
I Meme Everything
MemberAlien DroneApr-06-2016 4:08 PMAvPR was bad, but I want to see another movie. What are the possibilities of another AvP? Do you think we've given the series too many chances or is there hope for a good AvP movie?

MemberAlien DroneApr-06-2016 9:25 PMNope, please no more AVP. Both AVP movies were terrible. We need more Stand alone Alien and Predator movies no more crossovers; they do not progress the storyline and they are nothing more than beat-em up movies! Alien has its own style and its ruined by Predator's style they'll never be on par with the stand-alone films in terms of quality storytelling.

MemberYoung BloodApr-07-2016 1:36 AMAvP movies just confused all scenarios. Now, most people believe that there is only a total AvP universe, even though it is not. Alien vs Predator is like Godzilla vs King-Kong or Freddy vs Jason - just funny stupid crossovers.
P.S. Although comics Fire & Stone or Three World War proved to be a very exciting - they could be seen on the big screen.

MemberFacehuggerApr-07-2016 4:56 AMTBH there hasn't been a good Alien movie since 1986, and there's only one good Predator movie with that being the original. Not like the AVP movies tarnished the character names, in fact I enjoy the first AVP and would pretty much rank it about even with Alien 3 and Predator 2.
There probably shouldn't be another AVP movie, at least for a while. AVPR just dropped the ball so hard and I doubt people want to give the name a chance. Granted though Batman kept going after Batman and Robin, and Godzilla make it through 98, so maybe in like a decade or so we can give AVP another shot.

MemberBloodedApr-07-2016 7:26 AMI have only watched the AvP movie released in 2004 and it wasn't very good. No more AvP movies for me thanks.

MemberAlien EggApr-07-2016 8:56 AMI'm too much of a fanboy to complain. Sure there is no doubt that both movies had so much opportunity for growth. It's hard to really fully explore possibilities on a short leash. I do like that they at least gave insight to a broader universe. There past involvement in ancient civilizations. There ritual of maturity. AvPR's Predator suit was awesome. Cool view of the Predator homeworld. Predalien was great! With both films they gave a hint at how Weyland knows about Aliens and their future connection with Yutani technology. Glad they are treating the Next Predator with the respect it deserves, a big budget.

MemberAlien DroneApr-07-2016 10:33 AMUmmm the AVP movies are not canonical thanks to prometheus's new weyland coporation's backstory. No mentions of AVP so yeah, AVP's storyline is in its own continuity seperate from the Alien and Predator continuity.

MemberChestburtsterApr-10-2016 7:37 PMI don't think with alien 5 possibly looming after covenant that it will come into play for the next 15 years at least.

MemberAlien EggApr-23-2016 5:59 PMI hope so! I loved both AvP movies. Especially AvPR such an underrated movie because of the bullshit teen drama.
I loved it because in this movie you can see what a full trained warrior predator can do. And showed how he by himself messed all those aliens up.

MemberAlien DroneApr-23-2016 7:06 PMEdrick 1980, Wolf was the only good thing about AvPR.

MemberAlien DroneApr-23-2016 9:23 PMPlease no god damn AVP! It nearly killed the Alien franchise! No Avp!

MemberAlien WarriorApr-24-2016 2:39 AMAVP failed because it was not done as well as it could have been...
Alien R likewise.... AVP R well that was a joke!
They (Fox) would be reluctant to be honest... but MONEY talks more than Reputation... and so i would say YES! We will see a AVP movie at some point..
I think they will give us the new Predator Movie, Alien Covenant, Alien 5 then we will see Alien Covenant sequel maybe Alien 6 and a Predator 5
And depend how well they cover Alien 5 and maybe a 6 and Predator 4 and 5 and how well Alien Prequels do..
If these movies get us interested in the Predator and Alien again, instead of dilute or do damage... then yes dont rule out a AVP.
AVP could work... could work very well, if it was done right...
They should have gone the route of the AVP Games from about 16-18 years ago and Comic Stories from about 15-20 years ago... and so follow the same timeline as Dark Horse has in Fire and Stone and its new Comics..
Then they could just leave the Comics to give us our Alien vs Predator vs Engineer Fix....
But if done right it could work?

MemberAlien WarriorApr-24-2016 2:47 AM@Ht27str
Yes both AVP movies had good concepts... poorly executed...
The AVP Plot could have worked.... if it was set on a distant Planet that Weyland Corp found.... where again they was kidnapped by Predators.... and used as Sacrifices...
Or the Humans found a Temple.. and made some connections to Pyramids on Earth..... but when they explored... they triggered something and got caught inside...
We could then had seen Predators de-cloak and activate something to release the Xeno Eggs....
Basically throwing the AVP Plot onto another World, in the timeline set after Aliens... or around same time.... having it link to Earth via Pyramids and Hieroglyphs etc
Rather than show us Xeno infested Pyramids on Earth... could have worked...
Hell even the Plot on Earth may have worked... if it was set after Aliens..
But AVP had good ideas... borrowed from the Games/Comics.. thrown into a timeline that would have been better off changed and then basically the movie was not as well written as could have been..
Prometheus was the same.. great ideas.. just not as well executed as could have been....
AVPR well that was executed totally poorly... fingers crossed Alien Covenant does not suffer same fate...

StaffBloodedApr-24-2016 10:18 AMThere won't be any, like James Cameron said: "They screwed up the whole franchise".
I've always wanted to see an AVP movie without humans in it,just Xenos and Yautjas fighting each other for an hour and half.
Since there would be no humans there doesn't have to be human spawned xenos because in AVPR an adult elite predator was killing bunch of them like they are bugs,a predalien was more of a challenge for him so seeing bunch of predaliens or other xeno species would be interesting.
AVP movies are bad,but comics and video games are awesome.

AdminJungle HunterApr-24-2016 7:36 PMYeah, I don't see Fox contiuing on the current AvP film franchise. However, if rebooted and really given a solid script and director, AvP could in theory win over fans of both franchises. The problem is AvP clearly put a biased emphasis on the Predator and eradicated all essense of what the Alien was. The only way I see AvP ever making a comeback is if they literally creates a film based off the Dark Horse Comics original AvP series. Fans of Alien and Predator agree that's really the only story worth telling and the only way both creatures and their legacies could he respected.
But I'm okay if they stick to solo films from now on.

MemberAlien EggJul-09-2019 3:11 PMI'd take another AVP over Alien Resurrection, Prometheus, Covenant, and The Predator.
BigDave
MemberAlien WarriorJul-09-2019 4:34 PMI think it depends on the Success and Interest in Future Comics, Novels and Video Games as well as Merchandise/Toys.
Disney would not want to spend Money on anything that they cant have some assurances would make a Good Return, so the Disappointment of Alien Covenant and The Predator does mean its UNLIKELY we would see one any time soon.
I do think however that Provided its a Reboot, and is more similar to the Comics/Games so its NOT set in the year 2004 but set in the Year 2200 or abouts then i think provided its a Good Script, and Budget, Cast then i think a AVP Reboot as just as much chance of making Money as a Alien Prequel, Aliens Sequel or another Predator Movie.

MemberPredatorJul-09-2019 9:35 PMI really like the first AVP and would be fine with another one as long as it steered clear of AVPR. It should also not have a weird hybrid like the Predalien.
I doubt it is high on the list for Disney, but I would support it.

MemberPredatorJul-10-2019 12:38 AMTen years ago I did a treatment for an AVP prequel set in 1904, which embellished upon the extra opening scene we got with the home release of the first AVP.
In short, it featured 3 Predators as before hunting down a brood of Aliens cut off from the Queen, with one of them discarding its dome (a la James Cameron's idea) to differentiate from the other Aliens. The treatment culminated with the domeless Alien and the last surviving Predator facing off against each other with the Predator winning, but not before the Alien had melted almost half of its face off, revealing the Predator to be Wolf (from AVP:R).
That said, I have to echo that if AVP was to return to the big screen it would highly likely be rebooted, most likely featuring Colonial Marines (a la Aliens), in an attempt to emulate the success of the games and comics.

MemberYoung BloodJul-12-2019 11:24 AMWe need another AvP movie because the two first ones were bad,the third one will need to be better, with better characters, and a great plot for the movie, and action.

MemberFacehuggerJul-19-2019 10:08 AMThey should do a new movie, with the following title:
'Predators & Aliens Vs Engineers & Aliens'
The premise for the story:
A Predator spaceship is running away from the engineers and lands on earth.
A derelict arrives to the earth's orbit and stays there, 'incognito'. Two derelict vessels enter in earth's atmosphere, to start the pursuit. Their weapons, deacons, to fight against the Xenomorphs imprisoned by the predators on the blue planet, Somewhere in Antarctica.
Xenotaris
MemberAlien DroneJul-21-2019 2:54 PMIf they do another AVP, please do not reference AVP2004 by mentioning Antarctica. I would rather a rebooted AVP take place another planet far from earth
BigDave
MemberAlien WarriorJul-21-2019 3:57 PMCertainly the Engineers Plot does give us another RACE to throw into the Mix..
I think it would be BEST to explore this in Novels and Games First Though, but we did see the Engineers introduced into some of the Comics.

MemberAlien EggJun-01-2020 6:32 PMAvP wasn't that bad. AvPR was so poorly lighted you couldn't tell what the hell was happening. Director and editor should be punished. I think Predator should rest for awhile. I think Alien franchise should hibernate too. At least until someone comes up with a good script. Disney spent money on these universes so I would expect they want a return, just not now. Or until some level of interest builds again. And please no more robot gone bad movies. Either give us something new and bigger or just go home.
Cool Godzilla
MemberAlien DroneMar-03-2023 4:57 PMNo, we need more Alien movies. Alien movies that have heart-pumping, action, and are full of suffering, pain, and fear in the human characters. And for Predator, it's better if Predator wasn't fighting Alien again and returned to causing terror in human characters.
Cool Godzilla
MemberAlien DroneMar-03-2023 4:58 PMBut it'll be a little interesting if Alien and Predator...worked together.

MemberAlien DroneMar-03-2023 11:35 PMGeeze why was I so angry back in 2016?
Cool Godzilla
Well in the Dark Horse Comics, the Yautja (Predators) have formed a culture around hunting the xenomorphs as a rite of passage.
As for the xenomorphs tend to attack pretty much anything that isn't a xenomorph on sight and infect them with their young.
